U.S. State Minimum Wage Increases and Inter-Active Map
Posted by

This report in HR includes a map of the U.S. that shows which states are increasing the minimum wage , when the increase takes effect and if a specific industry is specified, for example, fast food workers in NY State. There are currently, 14 states with increases effective January 1, 2016, 2 taking effect on July 1st and 1 on August 1st. These increases should be of particular interest to those in the franchise industry and in particular franchise systems that tend to employ a significant number of employees, especially in the QSR sector. If a state enacts a minimum wage increase which results in a minimum wage higher than the federal minimum, employers in that state are obligated to pay the higher minimum wage to employees in that state.
