Changes in the U.S. Population: Implications for Franchising?

A recent article in a Wall Street Journal Report the CEO Council entitled "Meet a New Electorate" includes some interesting statistics on impending changes in the U.S. population. 
Some of the highlights:
  • The U.S. population will grow 20% over the next 30 years with non-Hispanic whites becoming a minority
  • Hispanics will represent 25.3 % of the population
  • Asians will grow from 5.5% to 6.2% of the population
  • African Americans will increase slightly from 13.2% to 13.9 % of the population.
Although the article is focused on changing voting patterns it has implications for businesses that market goods and services, especially franchised businesses. Click to download a copy of the CEO Council Report
