The True Unemployment Rate Continues in Double Digits

Although the mass media and political pundits report an unemployment rate of 8.2% the broader unemployment rate, known as the "U-6″ by the Labor Department, was up in
June to 14.9%. This figure includes the official unemployment rate plus those neither working nor looking for work, but who want a job and have looked for work recently. This factor continues to have implications for the franchise industry including franchisees and franchisors. Compounding this grim news is the lack of growth in the construction industry that reflects the weak housing market.
