I received a number of comments regarding my article A Business Plan Should be a Requirement for Buying a Franchise. With one exception all were positive. Following is an example of a comment on LinkedIn.

Discussion:A Business Plan Should be a Requirement for Buying a Franchise

Hi Ed,  I completely agree.  We have required that all candidates complete and submit their BP prior to the final approval being granted.  At Wild Birds Unlimited, we provide them with an example Business Plan and all of their projection tools (we do not review their projections, of course) so that the process is not so overwhelming.  I just wrote a blog for Franchise Business Review on this topic- it should be posted at http://franchisebusinessreview.com/content/blogs.php later today.

In every business that we do we should have a plan so as to avoid or lower the failure rate. I have read the article myself and I think you have a point there when you said that before signing the franchise agreement, one should write a business plan. It would benefit both the franchisor and the franchise business owner.
