DLA Piper Article Warns About Franchise Internet Postings

This article from DLA Piper reports on a recent Florida court decision in Ball v. D'Lites Enterprises, Inc., 2011 WL 3109733 (Fla. 4th DCA July 27, 2011), which held that a franchisor was not entitled to judicial immunity for alleged defamatory statements it made regarding several franchisees on its corporate website. The franchisor and franchisees were engaged in litigation and the postings were related to the dispute. Based upon this decision, franchisors, franchisees and franchisee associations should refrain from posting statements on the Internet related to pending litigation. Read More
