Here is some interesting franchise news from around the Globe.
- The Smart Company website reports that Domino's Australia and New Zealand operation is now recording 50% of its sales online. The program is based upon Domino's taking the order online and dispatching it to their closest location. Could this trend spread to more markets? Read more here.
- Here are the 20 fastest growing food chains with more than 50 locations from RestaurantChains.net. The time period was for October 2010 until January 2011.Leading the pack was Smashburger which grew 22% going from 76 to 93 locations. See the rest of the group.
- From Blue Mau Mau, a report on a franchise owner of supermarkets, UPS Stores and Dunkin' Donuts shops who is publishing a tell-all book from the inside of a franchise. The author, Irwin Barkan writes that the franchise industry has changed in the last 20 years, replaced by private equity firms and conglomerates that don't have the best interests of franchisees as their concern.
